Kinship Day at the Capitol (virtual)
Join with other kinship families as we meet our legislators and advocate for legislation that will help kinship! We will provide you with training, and you can participate at whatever level you feel comfortable. Due to COVID, we will be hosting this day as a virtual meeting.

About the event
Supporting grandparent and kinship families comes in many forms, including legislative changes, financial support, and department process updates. The Arizona Grandparent Ambassadors (AZGA) have firsthand knowledge of the struggles that grandparents and relative caregivers face. We invite you to join us for our annual day of advocacy at the Arizona State Capitol. We're going virtual this year! This means that your advocacy day's timing will be flexible.
Pre-Session Advocacy Trainings
Learn how to tell your story to lawmakers and policymakers to best advocate for your family and the children in your care. We'll give you the training and the tools you need to feel comfortable. Your story is powerful! It needs to be told!
The same training will be offered twice prior to our "Day" at the Capitol. You only need to attend one training - pick one that works for you:
February 8th @ 7PM-8PM
February 9th @ 4PM-5PM
Main Event: Virtual Day at the Capitol
February 15th @ 8AM
8:00AM - 9:00AM: Morning social / check-in / overview
9:00AM - 11:45AM: Legislator meetings (FLEXIBLE)
(exact time will vary per legislator, will last about 15 minutes via Zoom. you will be notified if your lawmaker can meet with you)
11:45AM - 1:00PM: Virtual Lunch with Lawmakers
